Desert Gas Station - Relight

For this portfolio piece, I undertook a relighting practice exercise focused on the primary goal of employing physical values and techniques to recreate a dusk atmosphere, drawing inspiration from cinematic references such as the exterior bar scene in the movie Sicario and a specific dusk shot from the movie The Founder.

I aimed to convey a seamless fusion that not only met technical standards but also evoked the intended emotional response inspired by these cinematic references.

The central concept involved creating a Lookup Table that helped me enhance the relighting of the Desert Gas Station into a dusk setting, capturing the unique interplay of warm and cool tones typical of this transitional period. I also used the Screen Space Fog Scattering plugin and the Matte Painting Skybox Pack VIII: Doom Skies pack. With these tools, I carefully analyzed the lighting arrangements in my cinematic references to gain insights into achieving a realistic and visually compelling outcome.
